How to plan reading and watching¶
What this is for¶
Reading tasks and episodes can get a date and appear in the day plan. The link works differently for books and series, so after moving a deadline it is worth checking the planner itself too.
How to get there¶
In Leisure → Books (/books) open a book and Reading plan.
In Leisure → Series (/series) open a series and Watch plan.
Step by step¶
- In the book pick Add chapter, enter the task name, set Date (optional) and pick Add. A dated entry is copied to the planner.
- To move a reading task, use the Change task date icon and pick a new date. If a linked planner task is found, the app tries to move it, keeping its time and duration.
- In the series add an episode name, duration and Date (optional), then pick Add. Giving a date for the first time creates a task in the planner.
- In the day plan check the created entries and their deadlines.
- After changing an episode's date, fix its copy in the planner by hand if it should also be moved. Deleting the episode does not delete that copy.
Fields and options¶
| Element | What goes into the planner |
|---|---|
| Reading task with a date | Book and task name plus the date; the link is used for counting completion and rescheduling. |
| Reading task without a date | Can stay on the list without a copy; marking it done creates a linked task if one is missing. |
| Episode with a date | Series and episode name, duration and date; the copy is created as not done. |
| Movie | A copy is created when you add a new movie with a date; later edits do not sync its deadline. |
| Game | Dated milestones can go into the planner; Plan play session creates a separate task linked to the game. |
Common mistakes / pitfalls¶
- The reading task was saved, but copying it to the planner failed. and The episode was saved, but copying it to the planner failed. mean the library item was saved without a planner task being created successfully.
- A series creates its copy once, when added with a date or when a date is first given in editing or through moving the deadline. A later move and deleting the episode do not update that copy.
- Mark as watched changes the episode's date to today; this action neither creates nor completes a planner task.
- A book's progress is based on completing linked tasks, and a series' on episode dates. Do not treat both types' percentages as the same measurement.
