How to arrange tasks during a day

What this is for

In Day you assign times to tasks and adjust their duration on the day's timeline. Today lets you check current tasks and jump to the detailed plan.

How to get there

Open Planning → Day (/day). From Today (/app) you can also use the Open day view icon. In Day choose Timeline; List shows a list of tasks.

Step by step

  1. In Day pick a date in the calendar or use Previous day / Next day. The Today button returns to the current day.
  2. Click New Task, fill in Name and the Date, and save with the Create button. You can also click an empty spot on the Timeline to start creating a task with a preset time.
  3. In Timeline drag a task from Without a time to a chosen hour. The task gets a start time; when it has no time estimate, the block covers 30 minutes.
  4. Drag the middle of a task block to change the start time.
  5. Drag the bottom edge of the block (Drag to resize) to change the duration. The change is saved when you finish dragging.
  6. To edit the data manually, click the task, change Start date or Start time and use Save.

Common mistakes / pitfalls

  • Dragging the bottom edge sets at least 5 minutes.
  • If saving a move or a length change fails, a Couldn't move '…' or Couldn't resize '…' message appears and the view restores the previous values.
  • The message Timeline drag & drop is unavailable — reload the page (Ctrl+F5) means drag support did not start. Reload the page with Ctrl+F5.
  • In a multi-day task's details, the time is disabled: such a range is all-day, and the work estimate remains a separate value.
