How to find tasks without a date and overdue work¶
What this is for¶
In Tasks you find tasks regardless of their date and completion state. Filters let you separate tasks without a start date from tasks past their deadline.
How to get there¶
Open Planning → Tasks (/tasks; /open-tasks also works).
The Overdue shortcut in the menu appears when there are overdue tasks and leads
to /tasks?filter=overdue.
Step by step¶
- In Tasks click Clear filters to remove earlier conditions and search text.
- Choose Add filter. Set Field → Start date and Condition → Is empty. You get tasks without a start date.
- If you want to see only unfinished tasks, add a second filter: Field → Done, Condition → Is, Completion → Not done.
- Click a task row, set Start date, optionally Start time, and click Save. The task stops matching the empty-date filter.
- To check overdue work, use Clear filters, then Overdue. This filter selects unfinished tasks with a Due date earlier than today.
Fields and options¶
| Option | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Search all fields | Searches text in task fields |
| Add filter, Field, Condition | Add a condition for a chosen field |
| Start date → Is empty | No date placing the task in the plan |
| Due date | The deadline used by the Overdue filter |
| Columns | Chooses columns visible in the table |
| View name, Save view, Saved view | Save and recall a set of table settings |
| New Task | Opens task creation |
Common mistakes / pitfalls¶
- Tasks is not a list of only unscheduled tasks, despite the alternative
address
/open-tasks. Without filters it fetches all tasks. - The start date and the Due date deadline are separate data. A start in the past alone is not enough to land in the Overdue filter; a task without a Due date does not match this filter. Completed tasks are excluded too.
- All added filters must be satisfied at the same time. Incomplete filters are inactive, so Add filter alone does not narrow the results.
- In the details, clearing Start date and saving removes the calendar assignment. A plain task stays in Tasks without a date. For a task linked to a project plan, saving removes the entry from Tasks while keeping the task in the project plan without a schedule. Details are described in the project schedule.
