How to review plan execution and save conclusions¶
What this is for¶
The weekly, monthly, and yearly reviews set the tasks planned in a given period against their completion state. You can check the remaining work and save your own conclusions in Reflection.
How to get there¶
Open Weekly Review (/weekly-review), Monthly Review (/monthly-review)
or Yearly Review (/yearly-review). The menu items depend on the panel
visibility settings. The reviews themselves have period tabs.
Step by step¶
- Open a review and choose a period with the arrows. Last week, Last month and Last year select the previous period; This week, This month and This year return to the current one.
- Check Planned, Completed, Hours Planned and Hours Done. The hours come from task duration estimates; Hours Done sums the estimates of completed tasks.
- In the yearly Year at a Glance, click a month to open its review. In the monthly Weeks at a Glance, click a week to open the full week.
- Check What Slipped for a past period or Still Open for the current one. For tasks overdue according to their planned day, the Reschedule to today icon lets you move them to today.
- Type your conclusions in Reflection and click Save. The monthly review shows saved weekly notes in Your weekly notes, and the yearly review shows monthly ones in Your monthly notes.
Fields and options¶
| Element | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Planned | Number of tasks assigned to the period |
| Completed | Number of completed tasks and their share of the plan |
| Hours Planned | Sum of the period's task estimates in hours |
| Hours Done | Sum of completed tasks' estimates in hours |
| Wins of the Week, Wins of the Month, Wins of the Year | Selected completed tasks, first by priority, then by length |
| Show all | Expands the list of open tasks if some are hidden |
| Reflection, Save | A note assigned to the selected period and its save |
Common mistakes / pitfalls¶
- Assignment to a period comes from the task's start date. It is not a report by actual completion moment, nor a stopwatch time measurement.
- Overdue in a review splits open tasks by their planned day. The Overdue filter in Tasks uses the separate Due date.
- A month includes only the days of the week that fall in that month. To see a full week crossing the month boundary, open its review.
- The next-period arrow is disabled in the current period.
- When you change the period with an unsaved note, Unsaved reflection appears: Save saves, Discard throws away the changes, Stay here keeps the current view. You can save a note even when the period had no tasks.
