Create a habit and plan its occurrences

What this is for

A habit stores a repetition rule, a duration and an optional time of day for an activity. You can pick occurrences and add them to the calendar instead of creating each task manually.

How to get there

Choose Personal → Habits (/habits). The item's visibility depends on Settings → Panels. You check streaks in Insights → Tracker Insights (/tracker-insights).

Step by step

  1. Click New Habit and enter a Name and a Duration.
  2. Set the Frequency. For Weekly check the days of the week, and for Every N days enter a Number of days.
  3. Optionally add Time of day (optional), Category and Description (optional). Click Create.
  4. Choose Add to week, then This week, Next week or a date in Any day in the first week. Weeks lets you cover 1 to 12 weeks.
  5. Check the occurrences and click Add to week or Add to weeks. The button shows the number of selected entries. Entries marked added are already planned. The copy gets the habit's duration, description and time.
  6. To plan a single occurrence, open the habit, set the Date next to Planned and click Plan.

Fields and options

Option Action
Daily Daily frequency, with no repeat-count field.
Every N days A day interval; Number of days must be at least 2.
Weekly Chosen days from Mon to Sun.
Monthly, Yearly Optional Times per period.
Time of day (optional) The time used by Add to week.
Description (optional) Up to 2000 characters; the description goes into the calendar task.
Active, Show paused Enabling a habit in editing and showing paused ones in the list.
Category, Sort, Group by Filtering, sorting and grouping the list.

In Tracker Insights, the Streak Risk table includes habits based on completed tasks linked to a habit. Streaks count consecutive days with a completion; the current streak may end yesterday if there is no completion today yet.

Common mistakes / pitfalls

  • Without a name, without a day for Weekly, or with an interval below 2, the form will not save the habit.
  • The number in Every N days means a gap, not a number of completions per period.
  • Add to week also recognizes earlier copies by name and day; shifting the time on the same day does not select a second copy by default. An added entry can be selected again if you deliberately want another copy.
  • The habit's mere existence does not confirm a streak. No recorded completions means days without completion in the analysis; the Streak Risk result is a heuristic estimate.
